I see so much symbolism in it, so I’m glad I’m not the only one. Even the legend that Lord of the Rings is has Christian elements to it. I don’t know how many people know that was what Tolkein was really writing about.
Really amazing poem. Really beautiful, and I’m sure God was smiling over your shoulder when you wrote it. Nathanael Herald Eisner replies: "Hey there Jess! Thank you! Glad you liked it! But what really makes me happy is hearing that others are putting Christianity in their stories too! That pleases me a lot!
I know JRR Tolkien was a Christian, but it’s not as obvious in his stories as CS Lewis. Lewis is my inspiration!"

There is a famous story on how Lewis, very proud of his atheism, and Tolkien went on a famous rainy midnight walk where they debated passionately. As dawn came about, C.S. Lewis was reborn, his eyes were opened. All beings are born inherently good, God is within and awake ready to shower us with love, it is just a matter of us waking up! Nathanael Herald Eisner replies: "Hello Lea! Welcome to my Meadow!
Well, to that first part, God is a ‘He’. The Holy Bible never calls Him a ‘her’. Also, God is God, nature is nature, and we are human. All is not one according to The Sacred Scriptures.
As for C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, I’ve never heard that, and from what I have heard, it can’t be true. They were both devout Christians.
I don’t know where you got these ideas, so feel free to explain them to me in more detail. Thanks for reading!"

Kudos, kudos, kudos!
This is great, and I can relate to it in many ways.
I love how you are not ashamed to actually use the name of Christ in your work.
That’s wonderful.
And no doubt arises in my mind that you are a Christian after reading your poetry.
You have such a great talent, I know God is going to use you in many ways!
(So you’re actually, a Christian, a saved, born again Christian! Me too. (: Your poem has inspired me to let Christ shine through more of my work. Thank you.)
I love this poem, it was really great. Keep writing, and God bless! Nathanael Herald Eisner replies: "Hey Rosemary! Glad you liked it! Yes, I’m an honest to God Christian! I’m honored I’ve inspired you to write more for our Lord Jesus Christ! No better reason to write! I’ve been doing it for nigh 6 years now and have no intention to stop!
May Jesus keep you ever under His wings! A-men."

Nathanael Herald Eisner replies: "Your hat’s off! I’ve never had anyone do that for me! I’m honored, thanks! And may Jesus keep you under His wings!"

I was reading through a couple of your other comments, and in response to one of them (this may have been answered already on a different page, but life is short ) Tolkein did convert Lewis. Lewis used to be an atheist, and described himself as the ’most reluctant convert’, but of course once he ’gave in’ his faith flowered into the great christian we know him to be. My dad is an author, who was inspired to write by Lewis
But yeah, I love the concept of your poem. Well done Nathanael Herald Eisner replies: "Thank you Grace! Glad you liked it!
And yes, I have heard the same! Tolkien did convert Lewis, but not the same way as the comment you are referring to seemed to indicate.
Hope your Dad does well!"

| 20 Jul 2009 | Ashy Casey | Loading...this is really good Nathanael! Your work is verymeaningful and ful of hope! your a great writer! Nathanael Herald Eisner replies: "Thank you! Thanks a whole lot! It means more than I can express! I truly joined Elfwood expecting nothing but to get people upset with me because of the ‘religious’ messages of my work. And now I find my most Christian work as my most popular! This poem has more favorite tags on it than any other single work! Thanks again!" | |

Great poem - some irregularities with the rhythm, but that happens to everyone, and the real substance is in the words. I like how you weave together fantasy and Christianity, and the way you use the symbolic meanings of unicorn, dragon, etc. in connection to faith... I often try to bring meaning to my stories, but find it pretty difficult - maybe because I use my head too much, and try to figure out what might speak to most people. Oh well. Right now I haven’t had time to write for ages anyway!! And when I try to write I get stuck..
Anyway, I really like your poem, it is very beautiful as well as inspiring, in reminding us what we should be like. Pure as a unicorn, strong as a dragon, overcoming like a phoenix - though none of that we can be by ourselves, since it’s too much. All is possible to us through Christ, and only through Christ.
Thanks you for writing this! Nathanael Herald Eisner replies: "I am glad and honored this impacted you! It impacted me writing it and so I posted it to let others have the same chance!
The gryphon was to mainly say ‘follow Jesus’. Which you already knew, so, great!"

Nathanael Herald Eisner replies: "Thank you so much! I’m honored you like it, and even more so it encouraged you!
Great job with the integrating Godly things in your stories! You will find the same for all of mine as well! There is no higher goal than to serve our Lord!"
